The Road to Calvary!

Luke 19:28-40

Jesus is traveling the road to Calvary.

And along the way several things happen.

Jesus Picks Up Some Admirers

The disciples don’t understand that Jesus is heading toward his death by the end of the week.

Jesus rides into Jerusalem, the disciples are joyous, the crowd is energized, and shouts of “Hosanna” ring out as he rides through the crowds.

Saying, blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

These are the crowds longing for freedom.

As the shouts of “Hosanna” ring out

“Hosanna” “Hosanna” “Hosanna”

And by the end of the week, those who admired Jesus on Sunday were shouting “Crucify him!”

“Crucify him” on Friday, what a turn of events.

I think of the parable of the sower and the seed

Mark 4:1-9                                                           Jesus spoke of how glad they heard the Word and exited but at the end of the day, trials’ testing’s temptations, thorns of all sorts came and choked out the Word the Truth about Jesus.

This was the work of the enemy to choke out the Word from their heart.

John 10:10

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Jesus said I came to give you life and life more abundantly.

That’s why I’m on the Road to Calvary

Jesus Picks Up Some Opposition

What was a jubilant scene of singing and shouting and celebration, the Pharisees hear all the commotion and says what all the big deal.

Rushing toward the sounds of joy and laughter, they quickly size up the situation:

These followers of Jesus are proclaiming him king!

And they say this can’t be!

And just as quickly, the Pharisees shout out to Jesus, “Rebuke your disciples!”

In other words, “Tell them to stop this nonsense.  You’ll upset the Romans, and besides, you’re no king or messiah.”

Jesus reply is that even if he tells his followers to be quiet, and he answered and said unto them,

Verse 40 I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

Jesus Picked Up the Cross

But let’s not forget that the road Jesus traveled led not just to Jerusalem, but through its streets.

The road that Jesus walked was a road that did not end in the city.

It continued out the other side, through the city gates, to a hill called Golgotha, Calvary, and the Place of the Skull.

And it is on this road that Jesus picks up the cross.

Jesus picked up the cross willingly, sacrificially, and obediently.

Paul says, “He became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.”

Jesus said, “I lay down my life, and no one takes it from me.”

Because the road to Jerusalem was not the highway of Hosannas.

The road to Jerusalem was the road to Calvary.

Jesus knew it, the disciples didn’t.

Jesus walked it, the disciples only followed.

Jesus embraced it, his followers fled.

It is because Jesus picked up the cross and gave his life, that we can live.

Proverbs 24:16  For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:

i am being CHANGED

One thing I do!

Php 3:13  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Php 3:14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

The Apostle Paul, here speaks of his past and his present life.

Before his conversion he was like a man running a race, a race of his own, with his eyes set on a lower goal.

Then Christ apprehended him, on the road of Damascus were the Lord caught hold of him, turned him

around, and set him running towards another goal; and Paul is saying I’m pursuing that goal yet, and it is still a long way off.

I count not myself to have apprehended

Not as though I had already attained.

I have not grasped it yet, or have not arrived!

Do you remember the day that the Lord apprehended you. Do you remember when you completely surrender from self and doing things your own way turning and doing things God’s way?

I still think about the Prodigal son when he was apprehended, and had a change of heart.

The Father will apprehend you by allowing things to take place in your life not to harm you but to get your attention!

Has God gotten your attention yet?

Luke 15: 18-

Too often we desire God’s gifts apart from Himself.

We want his benefits gifts, callings even his anointing but we don’t want to surrender totally our self to him.

Let’s go back to the Prodigal son.

The far country is not far in actual distance, but in the alienation of the heart.

For example the head and heart is about 18 inch, from onto another…..

You may be living in a beautiful home and yet be in the far country.

 Sin is waste.

For all have sinned and fallen short of glory of God.

Sin will take you further than you want to go.

Sin will keep you longer than you want to stay.

Sin will cost you more than you want to pay.

The far country is always swept by famine, because our soul was made for God and cannot live on husks.

Neither things nor people can really appease our awful hunger if we are away from God.

Only God can feel your heart with his Love not things or people, that’s why the bible says love not the world or the things in the world!

The world and the things of the world can stray you away from the things of God!

Paul (Saul) was an upcoming well taught in the word of God of the Old Testament, but he had a form of religion but denying the power of it, till the Lord apprehended him on the Road called Life.

And again whether it is Paul or the prodigal son or anyone of us, God the Fathers wants a relationship with his children he is the Father of all spirits but not all will be his sons or daughters.

Let me ask you, goes the Father know you as a son or daughter, or just an acquaintance, as an acquaintance will not do for you, that’s like being a foolish virgin in the bible were they came to the door and knocked and the Lord said I don’t know you, You never had a personal relationship with me just known me by acquaintance! Not good enough.

Back to Philippians 3:13

Paul says one Thing I Do

There are 3 parts to this one thing that he is talking about.

1 I forget the ground I have covered in the race.

1 cor 9:24-27

I cannot waste time over the past.

2 I reach forth to that which is before me in the race, I strain every nerve and muscle and use every ounce of my strength to win, my future depends on it!

I am running for my life.

3 I press toward the mark

That is I pursue, the runner must keep their eye on the prize, fixed, focus, Paul says lest I be disqualified for the prize.

The Way to The Father!
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The way to the Father is through Jesus Christ, it’s a narrow way but the true and only way that you can have LIFE.
Jesus is the answer for Change!!

i am being CHANGED
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Did you know that you cannot be truely changed with out truely being born again from above.
When we are born again from above as Jesus said to Nicodemus, we then begin to change but it starts from the inside out!

Many people try to change the outside, but inward is still unchanged and have no control or power to walk free or victories in this life.
Can you truely say i am being CHANGED…. from glory to glory
For without Christ we will still be unchanged and free

i am being CHANGED
